Subject:Milestone check-in recording :)
Time:12:04 pm
When J went to get Kairi up from her nap on Thursday, November 3rd, she was on her tummy. Then when I got her up in the morning of Friday, 11/4, she was on her tummy. Amber & I actually witnessed her roll from back to tummy Saturday (and boy was she upset about it) :)

This morning she had her first pancake as well. She has now eaten avocado, sweet potato, banana, plantain, delicata squash, broccoli, scrambled egg, and whole wheat pancake.

J got a new job! He has been working full time for a consulting group since January (prior to that he was an independent contractor for the same group). But he saw an opening at a winery about 10 minutes away from where we live and applied. Within 8 days, he had interviewed and received an offer! He'll be doing IT for the winery. It is an awesome opportunity allowing him to get into the wine industry in a decent paying job (something which is surprisingly difficult to do - we have a friend who has been basically interning at different wineries for the past 3 years trying to get into a decent paying job - it is brutal!) He starts November 1. It also means that we won't be working from home together anymore - while I'll miss him, I do have to say that I am constantly amazed that we have worked from home together every day for the past two years (and still like each other!). Him being at an office means we will probably have slightly more interesting dinner conversations.
Yay!

Subject:MBA
Time:09:58 pm
Oh right, so I've been toying with the idea of trying to get my MBA. My work will pay for it (or should pay for the vast majority of it). I am currently looking at three programs -

UC Davis - Professional MBA (http://www.gsm.ucdavis.edu/bamba/)
Dominican - Green MBA (http://www.greenmba.com/)
Presidio - Green MBA (http://www.presidioedu.org/)

I've realized that I need to take the GMAT asap and I guess I'll apply to all three programs and see what happens. I am taking next week off for a staycation and I will plan on heading to the library to get some study guides.

Subject:August sneaking in the back door
Time:09:40 pm
When did it become the second week of August? And where did my summer go? Of course, the fact that it never warmed up here might be part of the reason why I feel like summer snuck by. Hopefully we will get some warm days before summer is completely over.

Last week I spent a couple days in LA with my boss, and then had to spend a day down in San Jose with an investor. This weekend, I was actually home for most of it which was nice. Saturday we walked around the neighborhood hitting all the nearby garage sales. It was a lot of fun - I really enjoy wandering through garage sales, though many around here aren't so exciting. I should figure out if there are any estate sales around since those usually have furniture and other unique items.

Yesterday I went to the gym for the first time in a long time. I saw that they were offering swim lessons so I signed up for those. My first class is tomorrow morning at 6:30am. The last time I took swim lessons I think I was 5 years old. I've wanted to take swim lessons for a really long time so I am looking forward to them. Not so keen on the time though.

Subject:Cleveland
Time:09:16 pm
So I am in Cleveland this week. I flew out here Monday, arriving Monday evening. I have been working in my company's main office for the past two days, and tomorrow is our annual company meeting. The company meeting actually lasts through Friday, but I am flying home early to be able to be part of the wedding rehearsal for the wedding I am in on Saturday. It is a bit of a bummer, since all the meetings I am interested in attending are occurring on Friday. But coming out to Cleveland early to work in the office has been useful and I am glad that I was able to do that.

I am always impressed with the food here in Cleveland. A number of the restuarants rival San Francisco restuarants for quality. Last night my dinner was just amazing. Unfortunately, due to a thunderstorm, I ended up in a not so hot restuarant for dinner this evening. Ah well.

Subject:Wisdom teeth, birthdays and more
Time:02:30 pm
So last Friday, J had his wisdom teeth out (or three of them, the fourth had been taken out many years ago). It meant he was only able to eat yogurt smoothies for 3 days and was not very happy even with the percocet. His mom also came down on Friday, as we were all supposed to go to a family reunion Saturday. (We didn't end up going to the reunion due to J's teeth/mouth surgery). We had a nice evening Friday with his mom and she brought me photo albums as a birthday present.

She must have remembered that I mentioned that I have boxes and boxes of photos. This is the side effect of being an only child of parents who are only children - when everyone dies, you end up with 100% of the family photos. Now I have been moving about 8 boxes of photos around with me for the past couple of moves without ever going through them. The photo albums from my MIL motivated me to spend the weekend beginning to sort photos. I identified a small aspect of the project which I felt I could accomplish - I would just go through all the boxes and pull out photos from my childhood, ignoring all the black and white photos of people I don't know. It took me most of the day Saturday and Sunday, but I did it. I went through 3 boxes of photos, narrowing it down to one shoebox, getting rid of color photos of folks I don't know, and even starting to group things together. It was quite an accomplishment!

Tuesday was my actual birthday - it was a nice day, and we went out to a local Italian restaurant, Onoetri, for a fancy dinner. My meal was really tasty; unfortunately, J's wasn't as good.

The rest of the week passed uneventfully - Wednesday I had a board meeting in Berkeley, Thursday J was in SF all day, and then yesterday was a lot of database entry for me at work, and then shopping for my birthday bbq which is today!

Subject:Looking forward to this evening
Time:04:42 pm
This evening is a bit of an early birthday for me. For dinner, we are going to a complimentary wine/food event for Napa Valley Land Trust members which I am pretty psyched about. Free food & wine is always good, and this event is at the Oxbow, which has lots of different food/wine vendors all of which are quite tasty! Then after that, we have awesome seats at the newly renovated Uptown Theatre to see the comedian Brian Regan. I think we are just two rows back from the stage. I can't wait - I even went to the gym today so that I don't have any guilt indulging a bit at the land trust event.

This past Tuesday I flew down to Southern CA. I flew down there at 11am, arrived at 1pm, had a meeting from 2-2:45 and then flew back home on the 4pm flight. It was more than a little silly. It was truly weird since I didn't leave till after walking the dog in the morning, and got home in time to take the dog to training class in the evening.

Subject:pretty nice weekend
Time:09:44 pm
So I got home late Friday evening. Saturday I spent the day doing a tour of properties with some other RCD board members. In the evening we went over to a friend's house for a dinner party she was throwing. Today we went to the consumer mecca of Costco and signed back up as members. We then promptly spent a lot of money there. It was mostly on things we needed, and will hopefully only need to buy once this year. This evening we are hanging out watching too much tv - True Blood was entertaining though strange, Leverage is fun, and we also watched the series premiere of The Gates. That show was fairly surreal - don't know if it will become a regular show in the rotation.

Subject:Sitting in an airport
Time:03:24 pm
I am currently sitting in Seattle's airport at a wine bar killing 2.5 hours until my flight. Having to kill time in Seattle's airport is a lot better than being stuck in Spokane, Billings, or Long Beach though. And Sea-tac has a Body Shop store so now I smell all lemony and my arms are moisturized.

I had a good dinner with yixness last night. We went out to Thai food near her place which was quite tasty. I always enjoy visiting with her and her family when I am in Seattle, which seems to be about every six months. Her kids are growing so fast - it is cool to see snapshots of them twice a year and see how their development is jumping forward.

Seattle has been quite hot while I am here. I went to a ribbon cutting at one of my properties this morning and spent about 2 hours in the direct sun. I think my arms are pretty burnt :( not really what I was expecting from my trip to Seattle of all places!

On Tuesday I get to fly to Riverside, CA for the day. I am becoming the queen of trips where I am gone less than 30 hours. And it will mean that I have traveled three weeks in a row which is pretty rare for me. Then I get a week of no travel, and then two weeks where I will be gone for the whole week - one in Cleveland and one in Southern CA. And I just realized that I need to schedule a trip to Memphis, TN sometime soon. Unfortunately, I think Memphis is one of those places that I don't really want to go to in the middle of summer. Also, I am bummed that I will probably have to travel alone to Memphis since J can't take time off and we can't really afford a plane ticket for him combined with the cost of boarding the dog while we are both gone.

Subject:Happy birthday to my husband
Time:04:29 pm
Today is J's birthday. I am working on knitting him a hat modeled after the one Link wears in the Zelda games. It is about 60% done so far, but I am hoping to finish it up this weekend.

Wednesday evening I flew to Reno and came back yesterday afternoon. It was a pretty good trip - had to do a construction site inspection for work. I think maybe next month I will just drive out - the drive is very beautiful, it is just very long.

Tomorrow we are traveling up north to see J's mom. We are going to spend the night up there and return home on the 4th. We are also going to take Jessie with us up there which will be interesting. It will be the longest trip she has taken in the new car, and once we get up there she will have to be tethered away from where we are since she doesn't get along with J's stepfather. We are taking a big bone for her to gnaw on while there, so I am hoping it goes fairly smoothly.
